The first cooperation agreement under the framework of this year's "C5+1" summit has been signed between Kazakhstan and the United States
Kazakhstan International News Agency - The National Bank of Kazakhstan has signed a memorandum of understanding with the American multinational company Visa. This is also the first agreement reached under the framework of the upcoming "C5+1" Leaders Summit and the "C5+1 Tenth Anniversary Business Conference" to be held in Washington.
The memorandum was jointly signed by Deputy Chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan, Akerzhon Baymagambetov, and Robert Thomson, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Government Affairs at Visa Company.
Baymagambetov pointed out that this cooperation aims to promote the development of Kazakhstan's digital financial infrastructure and expand the application of modern digital payments in the domestic market.
"The core of the memorandum lies in strengthening cooperation and testing in advanced payment technologies and new digital solutions. The main directions include: establishing an innovation center supported by Visa on the national payment company's platform for testing and applying new technologies; promoting advanced experiences in digitalization and biometric systems; improving the cybersecurity level of the financial market; and preventing financial fraud." - said Akerzhon Baymagambetov.
Robert Thomson, a representative of Visa Company, stated that signing the memorandum of understanding with the National Bank of Kazakhstan is an important step in promoting digital innovation in Kazakhstan.
"We are honored to sign the memorandum of understanding with the National Bank of Kazakhstan, accelerating digital innovation throughout the country by developing digital assets, cybersecurity, and tourism data. This will help make Kazakhstan one of the leading digital economies in Central Asia." - Robert Thomson said.
He also recalled his visit to Kazakhstan in early 2023 and highly praised Kazakhstan's leading position in the field of digital payments:
"Kazakhstan has become a regional benchmark in digital payment innovation and the application of new technologies. Ensuring equal access to digital services for all people across the country, including small and medium enterprises, individuals, and government departments, is an important goal of this cooperation." - Robert Thomson said.
According to the information, the C5+1 Tenth Anniversary Business Conference will be held at the Kennedy Center "The Reach" in Washington on November 6, where political and business representatives from the United States and the five Central Asian countries will gather. During the conference, multiple economic cooperation agreements are expected to be signed with several American companies, further deepening trade and investment cooperation between the region.
