China-Kazakhstan Cooperation in the Heart of Asia: China and Kazakhstan Promote Low-Earth-Orbit Satellite Communication Cooperation, Shanghai SpaceSail Completes Testing in Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan International News Agency - Recently, the satellite internet system of Shanghai SpaceSail (Shanghai SpaceSail) was completed testing in Almaty Region, Kazakhstan. The system was debugged and launched on-site by Chinese experts who came specially to Kazakhstan. During the testing process, the network connection speed reached 200 megabits per second, demonstrating excellent technical performance.
The system is based on low-earth-orbit satellite technology, which can provide high-speed internet connectivity to remote areas, especially suitable for regions where laying fiber optic networks is difficult or costly.
This project aims to provide high-quality communication services to rural schools, medical institutions, mobile service units, and social infrastructure, thereby expanding the accessibility of digital services in rural areas and improving the quality of life for local residents.
To further promote cooperation, a Kazakh delegation also visited the headquarters of Shanghai SpaceSail in Shanghai, China, and gained a detailed understanding of its technical capabilities and production processes. During the meeting, both sides had in-depth discussions on joint projects and long-term cooperation prospects. According to the company's plan, it will officially start operations in Kazakhstan in 2026.
The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan stated that it welcomes all technological projects aimed at promoting the development of national digital services and is willing to cooperate with enterprises that meet the needs of the people and improve the quality of life.
