The China-Kazakhstan Cooperation on the "Belt and Road" in the Heart of Asia: China and Kazakhstan Jointly Built a Modern Veterinary Laboratory in the East Kazakhstan Region

Kazakh International News Agency - According to news from the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Kazakhstan and China have implemented an important project - a modern multifunctional veterinary laboratory in the East Kazakhstan region, aimed at strengthening the national food safety system and enhancing the potential for agricultural product exports.

This project was implemented under the framework of the intergovernmental cooperation agreement signed between the two governments during the official visit of the President of Kazakhstan to China.

The opening ceremony was held in the East Kazakhstan region. Attendees included the Minister of Agriculture Aidaibek Saparov, the Governor of the East Kazakhstan region Nurmuhamet Saktaynov, and the Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Han Chunlin.

"This project is an important achievement of the deepening strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China in the fields of science and technology and agriculture. It will promote the development of science and technology, enhance the competitiveness of Kazakh agricultural products, and play a key role in ensuring the quality of agricultural products and food safety," said Saparov in his speech.

According to the agreement, the Chinese government provided 99 sets of modern experimental equipment and furniture worth a total of 840 million tenge to the East Kazakhstan regional government. The new laboratory has been certified according to the Chinese and international ISO 17025 standards, and is capable of conducting high-precision testing in the fields of veterinary diagnosis, quality monitoring, and food safety. This will help eliminate technical trade barriers and further promote the entry of Kazakh agricultural products into the Chinese and other international markets.

The laboratory was established based on the branch of the Republican Veterinary Laboratory of the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision under the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan. The venue has been completely renovated, with updated engineering facilities and improved surrounding environment. The Chinese experts completed the installation and commissioning of the equipment, and provided professional training to Kazakh technicians.

The laboratory can conduct up to 550,000 high-risk disease tests per year, as well as approximately 4,000 food safety indicator analyses.

During the ceremony, 22 official and special technical vehicles were delivered to the regional branches of the Republican Veterinary Laboratory and the East Kazakhstan Veterinary Stations to enhance the mobility and emergency capabilities of the regional veterinary system.
