China and Kazakhstan plan to implement an unlimited transportation permit system starting in 2026
Kazakhstan International News Agency - According to the news office of the Ministry of Transport, representatives from the transport departments of Kazakhstan and China held a meeting at the "Khorgos" International Border Cooperation Center on November 5-6 to discuss issues related to international road transport.
After negotiations, both sides reached the following consensus:
From November 06 to 12, China will provide Kazakhstan with 15,000 transportation permit quotas. Based on the implementation situation over seven days, the actual daily demand of Kazakhstani transport companies will be determined. According to the data obtained, the permit quotas will be issued on a daily basis in the future.
Both sides plan to gradually transition to a system of issuing permit quotas without quantity restrictions (i.e., unlimited) starting in 2026. At that time, all vehicles entering China through the electronic queuing system will automatically obtain passage permits as long as they do not violate Chinese laws.
It is worth noting that in 2024, Kazakhstani transport companies used a total of 228,000 Chinese transportation permits. As of this year, more than 230,000 have already been obtained and used.
