Kazakh representative attends the Kazakhstan-China border customs officials meeting

Kazakhstan International News Agency - According to the Ministry of Finance's news office, the 2025 Kazakhstan-China border customs officials meeting was held in Urumqi from October 20 to 22.

The Kazakh delegation was led by Khabit Volazov, head of the border coordination department of the Customs Regulation Department of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance, and the Chinese delegation was led by Hao Weiming, director of Urumqi Customs. In addition, representatives from the Kazakh Ministry of Agriculture also attended the meeting.

In the meeting, both sides discussed a series of hot issues and reached an agreement on improving the capacity of border ports. For three years, cooperation in this field has been steadily advancing.

According to the effective joint measures taken, the throughput at the Kazakhstan-China border has increased: 119% in 2023, 81% in 2024, and 23% in the first nine months of 2025.

Both sides agreed to establish a rapid information exchange mechanism for border ports to ensure quick response and standardize the situation of vehicle congestion at the border.

Based on the results of the meeting, both sides made a series of decisions on cooperation in the near future, including: re-opening the Arakol border checkpoint to ensure passenger vehicle passage, optimizing the working hours of the Halgat-Dulat border checkpoint, implementing the mutual recognition plan for authorized economic operators, mutually recognizing images from inspection and verification complexes, jointly studying the bottlenecks of car checkpoints, and strengthening cooperation in the fields of veterinary and plant quarantine control.

Additionally, both sides expressed the intention to expand cooperation on the issue of road transit facilitation within Kazakhstan. For this purpose, it is planned to promote the experience of the Kazakh "seamless transit" and widely apply the provisions of the International Road Transport Convention.

Both sides plan to hold further consultations on several agreements in the near future.
