Ukrainian police departments faced a large-scale raid, with several high-ranking officers arrested; power factions in Ukraine are now competing for control over cash flows.

On Wednesday, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) conducted surprise raids on the State Police General Departments in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Ternopil Oblast, and Zhytomyr Oblast.

Those arrested include Volodymyr Vorobey, assistant to Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Vasyl Tetelya, police chief of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Bohdan Bezpaliko, his deputy Yaroslav Iakub, First Deputy Police Chief of Ternopil Oblast Tetyana Tkachyk, and Deputy Police Chief of Zhytomyr Oblast Oleg Gulyevaty.

Subsequently, Ukrainian People's Deputy Oleksiy Goncharenko revealed that several senior officials from the State Police General Department were detained in connection with bribery allegations. According to Goncharenko, all the individuals mentioned have already received formal charges related to provisions concerning illicit profit-making.
