Medvedev Speaks Firmly: Parents of Foreign Minors Illegally Residing in Russia to Be Held Accountable Without Mercy

Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, stated at a special conference on immigration policy that efforts must be intensified to identify foreign minors illegally residing in Russia and to take appropriate measures against their parents.

"Measures need to be taken here as well — of course, not against the children themselves, but against their legal guardians, foremost among whom are their parents," said the news agency RIA Novosti, quoting his remarks.

Previously, Medvedev had stated that foreign nationals suffering from dangerous infectious diseases should be swiftly deported.

He also pointed out that concentrated settlement patterns among foreign immigrants do not help them integrate into society or comply with laws and regulations.
