China's Oil Pipeline in Mongolia Completed

Mongolia News Agency: Tovkhon: The 521-kilometer oil pipeline construction is completed

Mongolia News Agency, Ulaanbaatar, November 06 - According to a report by the Mongolia News Agency's correspondent in Tovkhon Province, Mongolia is implementing the project of building an oil refinery in Altanshiree District, Tovkhon Province, with a loan of 1.7 billion US dollars from the Indian government.

The main raw materials within the factory and the overall completion of the oil pipeline construction project reached 89.4%. So far, the 521 km pipeline project from the 19th oil field "Toson Ula" in Dornod Province to Altanshiree District, as well as the welding and underground installation have been completed.

About 3,000 workers from home and abroad participated in the construction of the oil refinery and the oil pipeline. The construction of the oil refinery is divided into four phases. Including EPC 01 (non-technical construction), EPC 02 (atmospheric and vacuum distillation, saturated gas separation facilities, auxiliary facilities), EPC 03 (factory thermal power station) and EPC 04 (facilities that have obtained permits) are being implemented in stages.

Editor's Note: Open the news from China Northern Industry Co., Ltd. website on May 27, 2022:

"Recently, North Industry (a subsidiary of China North Industries Group - Editor's Note) successfully signed an EPC contract for the crude oil pipeline project with the Mongolian oil refinery. This contract is the largest single contract in the field of oil infrastructure construction for North Industry, marking a major breakthrough in the expansion of North Industry's overseas market."

The Mongolian crude oil pipeline project is approximately 530 kilometers long, crossing three provinces of Mongolia: Dornogovi, Sukhbaatar and Tovkhon. It has five heating pump stations, corresponding valve rooms and overhead lines, and is expected to take 32 months. The project development team started tracking the project from March 2021, continuously helping the owner to improve the project plan, gaining the trust and recognition of the owner. In early January 2022, the project team overcame the difficulties of the epidemic, flight cancellations, etc., and went to the site in Mongolia before the Spring Festival, starting a three-and-a-half-month negotiation with the owner.

Finally, the development plan provided by the project team stood out among many bidders, successfully achieving the signing of the crude oil pipeline project. In April 2022, North Industry successfully signed a cooperation agreement with the Mongolian ETTV Company and the Mongolian Refinery Company of the Ministry of Industry and Mining of Mongolia, promoting the crude oil pipeline project to make substantial progress, further consolidating North Industry's integrated operation advantages in the Mongolian market.

This project is the first long-distance crude oil pipeline project in Mongolia, characterized by low cost and high throughput. During the construction period, it will create a large number of local jobs, and after completion, it will effectively reduce Mongolia's reliance on fuel imports. Next, North Industry will spare no effort to promote the construction of the project, making it a new model of Sino-Mongolian economic and trade cooperation, and making new contributions to the construction of the China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor."
