The second oil well operated by the Chinese company Petro Matad in Mongolia has been put into operation

Editor's note: The oil exploration in Mongolia is mainly concentrated in the eastern province adjacent to China, and then transported through a pipeline (built by China, already completed) to the eastern Gobi province near China, where an Indian-built and not yet completed refinery is located.

According to Upstream, with the British London Stock Exchange-listed Petro Matad oil exploration company putting its second oil well in Mongolia into operation in October, its production increased by about 2%.

After setting up ground equipment for the Gazelle-1 well, it started producing 200 barrels of oil per day.

The oil extracted from this well will be transported to the processing and export complex in the nearby XIX field, whose leading company is "CNPC" (China National Petroleum Corporation).

According to information previously released by Petro Matad, the daily oil production in Mongolia last year was 11,745 barrels. Of these, 95% of the oil came from the XIX and XXI fields of "CNPC", and the product was transported to Chinese refineries by trucks.

The oil extracted from the "Gazelle-1" well is processed and exported according to the oil sales agreement signed between Petro Matad and "CNPC".

The first well, Heron-1, had an average daily crude oil production of 164 barrels in its first year of operation. During this time, a total of 59,920 barrels of crude oil were transported to the XIX field processing facility, with a total of 298 deliveries.

The current daily production of the Heron-1 well is approximately 145 barrels of crude oil.

After completing the acid washing work on the third well "Heron-2" in Mongolia, maintenance and recovery operations are continuing, in preparation for commercial production to start in August next year.
