Kazakhstan Ranks in Top Three Oil Suppliers to the EU

Kazakh International News Agency - According to data from the EU Statistical Office, cited by the italicized website, Kazakhstan became one of the main oil suppliers to the EU in the second quarter of 2025, with a market share of 12.7%, ranking third.

At the same time, Norway led with 15.2%, followed by the United States at 14.2%.

By comparison, Kazakhstan's share was 11.7% during the same period in 2024, showing growth over the past year. Meanwhile, some countries saw their supply shares decline: the United States dropped from 15.1% to 14.2%, and Saudi Arabia fell from 8.7% to 6.2%. Norway increased from 14.1% to 15.2%, and Libya rose from 8.4% to 9.9%.

In terms of coal supply, Kazakhstan's position also improved. In the second quarter of 2025, its share reached 7.5%, significantly higher than 4.9% in 2024. Currently, the main coal suppliers to the EU market are the United States (35.3%), Australia (33.2%), and Colombia (12.5%).

Notably, Kazakhstan's oil is transported to Europe via the "Friendship" pipeline. Built during the Soviet era, this pipeline has southern and northern routes: the southern route extends to Hungary, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic, while the northern route goes to Poland and Germany.
