American-led Kazakhstan's oil: The President of Kazakhstan Meets with Chevron Corporation CEO
Kazakhstan International News Agency - According to a press release from the presidential office, during a meeting with American business representatives, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, met with Michael Wirth, Chairman and CEO of Chevron Corporation.
President Tokayev pointed out that Chevron has made important contributions to the economic development of Kazakhstan. Since Kazakhstan gained independence, Chevron has participated in the development of large oil fields such as Tengiz and Kashagan, and has invested nearly $55 billion in Kazakhstan. Currently, about a quarter of this global energy giant's production comes from Kazakhstan.
During the meeting, the two sides focused on the progress of the Tengiz oil field expansion project, the prospects of gas extraction and processing at the Kashagan gas field, and the development direction of transporting hydrocarbons to the international market, especially the transportation plan through the "Middle Corridor".
