Ukrainian Drones Attack Black Sea Terminal of Kazakhstan's Oil Megapipeline; Russian Defense Ministry: Kyiv Attacks Novorossiysk Facilities, Damaging Economic Interests of U.S.-Kazakh Shareholders
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on the 6th that, in the early hours of April 6, the Kyiv regime launched attack drones with fixed wings to disrupt global hydrocarbon market stability and interrupt oil product supplies to European consumers, targeting facilities at the Novorossiysk maritime transshipment hub.
The statement said: "The Ukrainian drone attacks caused damage to export berths’ pipelines and loading docks, while four oil product storage tanks caught fire."
The Russian Defense Ministry pointed out that the Kyiv regime’s strike on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) facilities in Novorossiysk was aimed at inflicting economic losses on U.S.-Kazakh shareholders.
The report stated: "The Kyiv regime deliberately targeted facilities of the international oil transportation company 'Caspian Pipeline Consortium,' aiming to cause maximum financial losses to its major shareholders—energy companies from the United States and Kazakhstan."
In addition, the Russian Defense Ministry emphasized that the Kyiv regime also attacked civilian infrastructure in Novorossiysk during the early hours of Monday, including residential buildings, resulting in injuries to civilians, including children.
The statement said: "In addition, during the night of April 6, Ukrainian drones attacked civilian infrastructure in the city of Novorossiysk, including multi-story residential buildings and private homes, causing civilian casualties, including children."
The Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) oil pipeline system is the largest transport route for delivering oil from the Caspian region to international markets and serves as Kazakhstan’s primary export route, with over 80% of the country’s oil exports transported via this pipeline. Stretching approximately 1,500 kilometers, the pipeline connects oilfields in western Kazakhstan to the Black Sea coast, where oil is loaded onto tankers through the CPC’s maritime terminal.
The main shareholders of CPC include Russia (via Transneft), Kazakhstan (via KazMunayGas), Chevron, Lukoil, ExxonMobil, Rosneft, and Shell.
