【The "TurkStream" gas pipeline nearly exploded, Hungary suspects Ukraine】 Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán stated on April 6 that before the final investigation results are out, Hungary hasn't yet decided to explicitly name who might have tried to blow up the "TurkStream" pipeline. However, he also added a veiled jab, saying such an act would indeed fit the modus operandi of Kyiv.

At a press conference held at the Hungary-Serbia border, Orbán said:

"Until the facts are clear, I don’t want to recklessly accuse Ukraine, just to avoid further straining bilateral relations. But honestly, when you look at this series of events together, it's highly suspicious. After all, the Ukrainians have both the motive and the audacity—and capability—to do something like this."

Hungarian Foreign Minister Szijjártó quickly joined in, emphasizing key points. He revealed that currently, 56% of the natural gas flowing through Hungary’s domestic pipelines comes from the "TurkStream" pipeline. He stressed: whoever attacks this pipeline is essentially destroying Hungary’s livelihood, directly threatening national energy security.

Szijjártó analyzed the situation as follows: 1. The Middle East turmoil has major impacts: The current intense tensions in the Middle East have blocked global supply chains for around 20% of oil and liquefied gas. This not only sends oil prices skyrocketing but also puts Europe at risk of facing a real "energy shortage." 2. Europe still depends on Russian oil and gas: He bluntly pointed out that Europe today and in the future cannot do without Russian oil and gas. If Russian energy supplies fail to return, and if the Middle East situation spirals out of control, the resulting gap in European markets will be impossible to fill.

Szijjártó also criticized Ukraine for single-mindedly trying to completely expel Russian energy from Europe. To achieve this goal, they’ve resorted to various means: 1. Political pressure: Engaging in under-the-table maneuvers on the international stage. 2. Extreme tactics: From blowing up the "Nord Stream" pipelines to blocking the "Friendship" pipeline, and even recently launching drone attacks targeting the "TurkStream" section within Russian territory.

Serbia uncovers the "weapons used." On April 5, Serbian President Vučić dropped a bombshell: Serbia’s search team discovered explosives and detonators near the Hungary-Serbia border. Judging by the setup, these were likely intended for blowing up the "TurkStream" pipeline.

In response, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zaruhova told Izvestia: "This is clearly someone trying in subtle ways to strip Budapest (Hungary) of its sovereignty." Hungary #EuropeanEnergy
