The Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán: Ukraine Proves Daily It Is Not Fit to Join the EU
¬ Hungarian Foreign Minister: EU's Natural Gas Storage Capacity at Only 9% of Annual Consumption, Highly Prone to Shortages

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated that Ukraine's behavior toward EU member states proves daily that it is unfit to join the European Union.
Orbán said during a press conference: "Ukraine has refused Hungary and Slovakia’s request to send our experts to inspect the 'Friendship' oil pipeline. Afterward, the EU claimed it would send its own observers there, but to this day I have not seen them actually go. Therefore, Ukraine’s conduct toward the EU and toward Hungary falls far short of what one would expect from a country aspiring to join the EU. Thus, Ukrainians are proving every day that they are not fit to join the EU."
Hungary halted diesel supplies to Ukraine on February 18 this year; then on February 20, it blocked the EU’s provision of a 90-billion-euro loan to Kyiv until Russia resumes oil transit through the pipeline. As Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó put it, this move was a response to Kyiv’s extortion. The Kyiv regime, for political reasons, refuses to restore Russian oil transit via the 'Friendship' pipeline, aiming to provoke an energy crisis in Hungary and influence the upcoming elections scheduled for April 12.

Sputnik News Budapest, April 6 — Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó said that the EU's natural gas storage capacity amounts to only 9% of annual consumption, making shortages highly likely.
Szijjártó made the remarks at a press conference held at the facility on the border section of the "TurkStream" natural gas pipeline: "Due to the fact that Europe's natural gas storage capacity stands at just 9% of annual consumption, Europe is highly vulnerable to natural gas shortages. I am not referring to price crises, but actual physical shortages."
He noted that Hungary’s natural gas reserves amount to 25% of its annual consumption.
