Investing $1.5 Billion: Chinese Enterprises Involved in Central Asia's Largest Amino Acid Production Project in Kazakhstan's Jambyl Region

Source: Kazakh International News Agency — According to the Ministry of Agriculture, a strategic investment project aimed at deep processing of corn is currently being implemented in Jambyl Region.

The project, participated by China Fufeng Group's Shengtai Biotechnology Co., Ltd., will be carried out within the "Silk Road" Economic Zone in Jambyl Region.

This initiative is being executed in accordance with the instructions of the country's leader regarding the development of manufacturing industries, involving phased construction of an industrial park. Currently, the first phase of the project has been completed.

Notably, the plant focuses on producing amino acids with high market demand, including valine, threonine, glutamine, and citrulline.

Currently, initial products such as isoleucine and leucine have already been produced under pilot operation mode. This is of great significance for domestic industry, as it marks the first time that Kazakhstan—and indeed the entire Central Asian region—has mastered the production technology for branched-chain essential amino acids.

Production capacity is gradually being increased to meet targets. Once fully operational, the factory is expected to process up to 3 million tons of corn annually and create 1,700 new jobs.

It is reported that the total investment for the project amounts to $1.5 billion, with the enterprise occupying an area of 400 hectares. Products will be exported to Central Asia, Europe, the Americas, and Africa.
