Korea to Study Simplifying Conditions for Mongolian Citizens to Visit Korea
Mongolia News Agency, Ulaanbaatar, August 1st, according to the National Great Khural News Office, the Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia, D. Amarbayasgalan, held an official meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea, Yoo Jae-Myung, on July 30th during the World Speakers' Conference.
During the meeting, Chairman D. Amarbayasgalan expressed his pleasure at meeting again since Mr. Yoo Jae-Myung's visit to Mongolia in April 2025. He emphasized that as an important "Third Neighboring Country" and a regional partner in Northeast Asia, South Korea shares common democratic values, human rights, and market economy values with Mongolia, and Mongolia is committed to further deepening its cooperation with South Korea.
In addition, Chairman D. Amarbayasgalan mentioned the desire to quickly resolve the problems faced by the "10 Provincial Center Thermal Power Plant" project implemented through preferential loans from South Korea, and to quickly select a new contractor to ensure the smooth implementation of the project.
At the same time, he called on the South Korean National Assembly to pay attention to the conditions for equal mutual visits between citizens of the two countries, especially to provide convenience for Mongolian citizens traveling to South Korea for health, humanitarian, and legitimate reasons, and to reduce the cases of Mongolian citizens being deported at the border.
Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea, Yoo Jae-Myung, stated that the South Korean side highly values the cooperation projects agreed upon during the visit to Mongolia, and will actively promote the "10 Provincial Center Thermal Power Plant" project to resume normal progress as soon as possible. He also said that South Korea is studying the feasibility of providing electronic visas to Mongolian citizens, and plans to increase consular staff at the South Korean Embassy in Mongolia, and simplify the group visa process for visits to South Korea, to further facilitate people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
During this official visit to Mongolia, both sides discussed and exchanged views on the issues that had been reached consensus on within the framework of solid and development-oriented economic cooperation.
During the conference, Chairman D. Amarbayasgalan also met with the President of the Swiss Council of States, Maya Rynik, the Speaker of the Singapore Parliament, Seah Kian Peng, the Chairman of the Russian Federation Council, Valentina Matviyenko, the President of the Canadian Senate, Raymond Gagné, and the Chairman of the Lower House of the Kazakh Parliament, Koshanov.
