According to TASS, on July 16 local time, Russian President Putin, during the opening ceremony of the eastern section of the M12 "East" highway, stated that Russia will consider the issue of building road connections to the border lines with Kazakhstan, Mongolia, China, and North Korea. The highway will be incorporated into the international transportation network to enhance Russia's transit transport capacity.

"We will continue to actively promote the construction of the eastern route of the highway. This route should extend to Tyumen and be connected to the upgraded main road network in Siberia and the Far East, and this opening is just the beginning," Putin said via video conference at the opening ceremony of the M12 eastern route highway.

He added: "Of course, the issue of building connection routes to the border lines with Kazakhstan, Mongolia, China, and North Korea will also be considered. This will greatly enhance our transit transport capacity."

Putin pointed out that this highway will be incorporated into the international transportation system in the future, becoming an important and competitive logistics artery.

It is reported that the M12 "East" highway project is one of the priority transportation strategies promoted by Russia in recent years, aiming to improve east-west transportation capacity, promote the development of the Far East region, and connect the Eurasian Economic Union with East Asian countries. According to data from the Russian Ministry of Transport, the project will connect Moscow with Vladivostok, covering a distance of nearly 2000 kilometers.
