The OSCE commends Mongolia's active participation in its activities
Montsame Ulaanbaatar, August 1st - According to the news office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bat-Erdeni Battsetseg met with the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Frits Buysse, during the "Helsinki+50: Respecting Traditions, Shaping the Future" international conference.
Minister Bat-Erdeni Battsetseg reiterated that Mongolia supports the basic principles and activities of the OSCE and expressed the firm belief that this anniversary event will have a positive impact on the OSCE's future activities adapting to new modern challenges and enhancing the organization's reputation. She also pointed out that Mongolia's membership in the OSCE aligns with its security and foreign policy concepts, and emphasized the importance of cooperation and enhancing political trust with democratic third-party neighboring countries within the regional security framework.
The Secretary General of the OSCE, Frits Buysse, highly appreciated Mongolia's active participation in OSCE activities and emphasized Mongolia's contributions to regional security cooperation in areas such as women's participation in society and counter-terrorism.
It is reported that Mongolia became the fifth Asian partner country of the OSCE at the 12th OSCE Ministerial Council meeting held in Sofia in December 2004, and became the 57th member state of the organization in November 2012. The OSCE is of great significance for Mongolia in strengthening democratic institutions, safeguarding human rights and freedom of the press, developing good governance, enhancing connectivity with European and Central Asian countries, and promoting economic cooperation.
