Horizon New City, New Capital Fever: Alatau City: Kazakhstan's First New City Fully Built with Private Investment
Kazakhstan International News Agency - The Alatau City project is becoming a new opportunity to attract foreign investors. Currently, several large investment parties have shown strong interest in the project.
Jandos Shaimardanov, Director of the Presidential Institute for Strategic Research, made these remarks at the special meeting "State of the Nation Address: Directions for the Future of Kazakhstan."
"Globally, the decline in foreign investment has become a common trend, not only in our region but in all regions. In this context, Kazakhstan cannot choose to passively wait. To attract major investors, we must propose unique solutions. Alatau City is one of them. The project has already attracted widespread attention. Unlike before, where we simply waited for investment, now we actively propose: there is a unique environment, complete infrastructure, and investment-worthy projects. This new city will have its own institutional advantages, even independent judicial jurisdiction," said Shaimardanov.
He also emphasized that Alatau City will become the first city in Kazakhstan fully built with private investment.
"Since independence, the development of Nur-Sultan and Turtkul mainly relied on budgetary funding. However, Alatau City will rise entirely from private investment. Under conditions of limited funds, this provides a very important opportunity for attracting investment," he pointed out.
On September 8, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated in his State of the Nation Address that Alatau City should be granted a special legal status and its direction should be clearly defined, making it the region's first fully digital city.
