Kazakhstan's Second and Third Nuclear Power Plants to be Built by China President of Kazakhstan: The Construction Plan for the Second and Third Nuclear Power Plants Should Be Initiated
Kazakhstan International News Agency - In his annual state of the nation address, the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, focused on the issue of national energy security.
He pointed out that Kazakhstan's goal is not simply to replace energy, but to pursue a sustainable development path that aligns with the country's interests and capabilities. The President stated that in the future, green energy projects with a total capacity of 6.3 gigawatts will be launched.
Tokayev emphasized the importance of nuclear energy, stating that the first nuclear power plant project initiated in Almaty region a month ago is insufficient to meet demand. He called for immediate planning for the construction of the second and third nuclear power plants.
He said, "Recently, I reached an agreement with Chinese leaders on cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. Kazakhstan is willing to establish mutually beneficial partnerships with all global companies to ensure energy sovereignty."
In addition, Tokayev mentioned that considering Kazakhstan's abundant coal reserves, clean coal production technologies should be developed, and this resource should be reasonably utilized in the country's development.
It is worth noting that this is the eighth state of the nation address by President Tokayev. According to tradition, the president delivers the state of the nation address at the opening of the new session of parliament in September each year.
