Kazakh International News Agency report: In his state of the nation address, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pointed out that "Alatau City" should be granted a special legal status, and its development direction should be clarified, making it the region's first fully digital city.

The president emphasized that the next step should be to establish a solid institutional foundation for Alatau City: "A presidential decree must be drafted within ten days, granting the city a special legal status and making it directly subordinate to the government. Subsequently, within no more than six months, a separate law should be passed, which should clearly define the management model, financial model, and other key issues of Alatau City."

Tokayev specifically pointed out that granting Alatau City a special legal status is not an additional privilege, but a necessary means and tool to ensure that the project does not remain just on paper and can be truly implemented.

The president also stated that Alatau City must become the region's first fully digital city: "Various innovative measures should be introduced here, from applying smart city (Smart City) technologies to implementing cryptocurrency payments for goods and services. This city will showcase the future image of Kazakhstan and should organically integrate technological development with a livable environment."

It is worth noting that this is the eighth state of the nation address by President Tokayev. According to convention, the president delivers the state of the nation address at the opening of the new session of parliament in September every year.
