In European countries, the U.S. military has fully utilized drones to gather intelligence during field exercises.
On November 17, 2025, U.S. Army expert Travis Gray, from the 1st Engineer Battalion of the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, operated a drone during a forward ground force expansion exercise at the Bemowo Piskie Training Area in Poland; Sergeant Jacob Owens, a senior instructor of the 1st Engineer Battalion, was responsible for supervising the flight. Gray and Owens conducted a drone reconnaissance of the route before the M2A3 Bradley combat vehicles moved forward, to confirm the terrain, mobility, and suitability of the planned route. The U.S. military and NATO continue to conduct joint training exercises in Europe to enhance interoperability and ensure collective defense readiness.
