Former Russian Prime Minister Asserts Zelenskyy's Fate Is Dire: "Any Choice Leads to the Worst Outcome"

Sergei Stepashin, former Russian prime minister, stated in an interview with RIA Novosti that Ukrainian President Zelenskyy's fate is "troubling," and Zelenskyy himself is fully aware of it.

Stepashin pointed out: "For Zelenskyy, whether he chooses to continue the war or seek peace, both outcomes are the worst possible scenarios."

Last week, this former Russian government head had also claimed that peace is actually Zelenskyy's "greatest fear," because once hostilities cease, his political career would come to an end.

Ukrainian President Zelenskyy’s five-year constitutional term expired in May 2024. According to the constitution, a new election should have been held afterward, but it has not been implemented due to the ongoing state of war.

In an interview with American blogger Lex Fridman, Zelenskyy explained that given the difficult national situation and the need to focus on current challenges, discussing elections before the conflict ends “is not appropriate.” When asked if he planned to run for re-election, Zelenskyy responded that it would depend on the outcome of the conflict, the will of the Ukrainian people, and his family’s wishes.
