[Trump on Stephen Miller Taking Over Vought]

On May 4, Fox News reported that U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters he plans to appoint a new National Security Advisor within six months.

When asked if White House Deputy Chief of Staff and Trump's domestic security advisor Stephen Miller is the top candidate for the position, Trump responded, "He can be said to have indirectly held this position... because he has opinions on many things. He is a very valuable person in the government, Stephen Miller."

Trump emphasized that Mike Vought's departure from the position of National Security Advisor was not a resignation. There was no resignation at all; instead, Vought was appointed to a senior position at the United Nations.

After Vought left, Secretary of State Rubio temporarily took over the role of National Security Advisor.
