Recently, Trump held a hundred-day commemorative rally for his administration in Macomb County, Michigan, and delivered a 90-minute "self-boasting", proudly claiming that it was the "most successful first day" of any American government.

Trump

However, U.S. media had already given completely opposite evaluations, mercilessly criticizing the Trump administration as an "epic failure".

In fact, this is indeed the case. In these hundred days, Trump has not accomplished any major achievements that can be held up as examples, but instead has caused strong dissatisfaction domestically and internationally due to various policies.

Nevertheless, during this hundred-day speech, Trump still spared no effort to promote his global tariff policy, confidently stating that countries are scrambling to negotiate with the United States and reach trade agreements, even including China among them.

In reality, this statement completely disregards the facts. At present, as long as the U.S. does not show enough sincerity and take concrete actions, cancel unreasonable tariffs, it will be difficult for China and the U.S. to sit down at the negotiating table, let alone sign economic and trade agreements.

Moreover, our Foreign Ministry spokesperson once again expressed the attitude on the tariff issue: if the U.S. really wants to solve problems through dialogue and negotiation, it must stop threatening and pressuring, and deal with China on the basis of equality, respect, and mutual benefit.

Interestingly, Hong Kong media keenly noticed something amiss: neither the White House nor the Treasury Department mentioned tariffs in their hundred-day economic memorandums.

Trump plans to reduce tariffs on China

It should be noted that Trump repeatedly mentioned tariffs in his speech, but his own people avoided the topic like the plague.

At the same time, Trump signed a proclamation allowing certain compensation for producers of imported auto parts and cars assembled in the U.S. How much longer can this "hot potato" of tariffs remain in his hands?

The answer is already clear. Recently, Trump backtracked and claimed that he plans to reduce tariffs on China because otherwise, it would be difficult to continue doing business with China.

From this, we can see that high tariffs have imposed heavy burdens on the United States, forcing even Trump, the mastermind, to consider pressing the pause button.

It is worth noting that in the face of the U.S. attitude shift, China's position has always been clear. During the BRICS formal member and partner foreign ministers' meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered five incisive questions targeting Trump's tariff measures, hitting the nail on the head:

First, whether to return to the law of the jungle; second, why national interests should be overridden by personal interests; third, whether international rules can be ignored; fourth, whether compromise can ensure self-preservation; fifth, whether to accept unipolar hegemony?

Foreign Minister Wang Yi

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Wang Yi truly expressed China's focus, maintenance goals, and principles. In today's globalization, the interests of all countries are closely linked. China's countermeasures against tariffs are not only to safeguard its own interests but also for the sake of the entire world.

Righteousness lies in the hearts of the people. The U.S.'s arbitrary use of the tariff cudgel has already aroused dissatisfaction and resistance from the international community. The Trump administration's disregard for facts and its stubborn behavior have not only harmed its own interests but also brought unstable factors to the global economy.

In today's globalization, no country can develop in isolation. The U.S.'s attempt to achieve "America First" through the tariff cudgel is undoubtedly reversing history.

The eyes of the American public are sharp. Multiple polls by U.S. media show that Trump's approval rating for governance has dropped to a historical low, and the public is very "dissatisfied" with his economic policies.

Sino-U.S. relations

Nowadays, domestic dissatisfaction with Trump's economic policies in the U.S. is increasing, and distrust of the U.S. is growing stronger in the international community. No matter how much Trump "deludes himself", he cannot change the established facts.
