U.S. President Donald Trump once again clashed with the media in a public setting. According to reports by the American cable satellite public affairs television network C-SPAN and TASS, on May 4 local time, when Trump was interviewed by the media on his private plane flying from Florida to Washington, he refused to answer a question about the progress of the U.S.-Russia leaders' talks posed by a reporter from The Wall Street Journal, and harshly criticized The Wall Street Journal as "a rotten newspaper," saying that "it is a waste of time to talk to it."

TASS reported that on that day, when a journalist tried to ask Trump a question on the plane, Trump first asked which media the journalist belonged to. After learning that it was The Wall Street Journal, Trump responded: "You people are too bad to me. The Wall Street Journal has completely degenerated into a rotten newspaper."
Subsequently, when questioned by the reporter about the progress of his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump said: "I won't tell The Wall Street Journal because it's a waste of my time. Negotiations are ongoing, but I don't want to talk about these things with The Wall Street Journal."
This is not the first time Trump has clashed with the media in public. He has repeatedly criticized media outlets such as CNN, The New York Times, and NBC as "fake news." At a press conference held at the White House in March, CNN reporter Acosta attempted to ask a question about the government officials' leaked chat incident, but Trump interrupted her by saying, "Excuse me, I didn't choose you (to ask)." The New York Post reported that Trump and Acosta had previously argued over several issues.
