Japanese Media: Nissan Achieves Growth with Huawei's Technological Support

On April 22, the Sankei News reported that new vehicle sales figures for Japan's three major automakers in China's market for March were released on April 22.

Nissan saw a year-on-year increase of 23.0%, reaching 54,616 units—its first time exceeding last year’s performance in two months. Toyota and Honda, however, experienced negative growth.

Nissan’s strong performance was primarily driven by robust sales of gasoline-powered vehicles, including the new “Tiana,” which incorporates Huawei technology. Earlier this month, Nissan also launched a new electric vehicle, the “NX8,” aiming to sustain its strong sales momentum.

In China, Toyota’s sales dropped by 8.0% to 142,700 units, while Honda fell 34.3% to 36,201 units. Toyota has now recorded negative growth for two consecutive months, and Honda has been declining for 26 months straight.

From January to March, cumulative new vehicle sales were 370,600 units for Toyota (down 4.3% year-on-year), 130,034 units for Nissan (up 7.2%), and 122,470 units for Honda (down 22.4%).

In the Chinese market, new car sales have been affected by reduced tax incentives for “new energy vehicles” and soaring oil prices due to tensions in Iran.

According to statistics from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, domestic sales declined by 20.3% year-on-year to 4.823 million units from January to March.

In Beijing, one of the world’s leading auto exhibitions, the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, will open on the 24th. Domestic and international manufacturers, including Japanese companies such as Toyota, plan to participate.
