China's Chang'e-7 mission carrying Russia's lunar dust detector delayed in launch

According to Xinhua News Agency, due to the mission not meeting launch conditions, the launch of China's Long March 5 Y14 carrier rocket carrying the Chang'e-7 probe has been postponed. The Chang'e-7 spacecraft is equipped with Russian scientific instruments.

As reported by Xinhua News Agency, journalists learned on the 23rd from the China Manned Space Engineering Office that, adhering to the principle of reliability and absolute safety, after comprehensive assessment, it was determined that the Chang'e-7 mission does not meet the launch criteria and cannot be carried out within this year’s scheduled window.

The probe was originally planned to carry Russia's "PmL" lunar dust detector into space. This scientific collaboration is based on a memorandum of understanding signed between the Russian Academy of Sciences and China National Space Administration (CNSA), under which both sides have already completed the historic exchange of lunar soil samples brought back by the Chang'e-5 and Luna-16 missions.
