[Russian Woman Allegedly Assassinated Former Ukrainian Officer, Unusual Events Prior to the Incident]
A 32-year-old Russian woman named Roit is accused of assassinating Shagiyev, a former Ukrainian "traitor" officer who was then serving as a high-ranking commander in the Black Sea Fleet, in Sevastopol. After reviewing Roit's social media, observers found it strange: she appeared to be an ordinary woman—why would she suddenly carry out such a violent act?
The UK's Guardian conducted interviews with 12 of Roit’s friends and acquaintances, uncovering that this seemingly ordinary woman had already shown abnormal behavior during the spring of this year.
Friends describe Roit as warm, outgoing, and fond of adventure, frequently traveling abroad and posting numerous photos from beach vacations on social platforms. When they learned she was suspected of murdering Shagiyev, those who knew her were shocked—they could hardly imagine her being involved in such a case.
However, Roit has consistently maintained an anti-war stance regarding the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Last year, she even publicly insulted Russian soldiers on a train, expressing pro-Ukrainian views, which ultimately led to disciplinary action. By early this spring, signs of unusual behavior emerged: her friends noticed she became more reclusive, suddenly purchased an additional mobile phone, and began skipping previously scheduled travel plans. In summer, she started visiting Crimea frequently—claiming she was searching for filming locations at the time. Looking back now, everything appears premeditated. The sudden change in Roit’s behavior this spring must have been triggered by some significant experience.
Russian authorities allege that Roit was instructed by a Ukrainian intelligence agency, though it remains unclear exactly when she first made contact with Ukrainian operatives.
