Israeli opposition leader and former Prime Minister Yair Lapid publicly criticized the peace agreement between the United States and Iran, pushed by President Trump, on June 14, 2026.

Lapid stated that the upcoming agreement achieves none of the objectives Israel had hoped to accomplish through war.

He pointed out that the Iranian government remains in power, the missile program remains intact, and the nuclear program can be restarted at any moment. He considers this a "complete failure" for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu.

Previously, the U.S. and Israel conducted joint military operations against Iran at the end of February, escalating tensions in the Middle East and causing oil prices to surge.

Although a ceasefire was reached in April, Lapid believes the new agreement does not genuinely address Israel's security concerns.

Notably, Trump claimed the agreement would compel Iran to abandon nuclear weapons, but Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu was reportedly surprised by the terms of the deal, and Trump had previously pressured him to halt air strikes on Lebanon.
