Israeli officials lash out at Trump: Iran deal is a 'backstab' against us

Israeli officials have expressed dissatisfaction with the agreement reached between the United States and Iran, stating that the accord does not align with Israel's military objectives and even viewing U.S. President Donald Trump's signing of the agreement as tantamount to "stabbing in the back."

According to the portal Ynet: "Last Friday, Israeli authorities voiced discontent over the impending memorandum of understanding between the U.S. and Iran, warning that the expected agreement would significantly deviate from Israel's strategic goals. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has raised new doubts about whether the upcoming agreement will ultimately be signed."

Israel believes the agreement between the U.S. and Iran fails to eliminate potential threats facing Israel—something deemed unacceptable. Other sources suggest the agreement may have resulted from Tehran exerting pressure on Washington.

A senior Israeli official told the website: "Trump let us down."

Another commentator described the memorandum as an outright disaster, as it failed to take into account any of the principles Israel had put forward at the outset of the conflict.
