Media: U.S.-Iran talks scheduled for next week in Switzerland

According to French television station BFMTV, U.S. and Iranian representatives are planning to hold talks next week in Switzerland, though the source of the information was not disclosed.

The report stated: "Senior representatives from both the U.S. and Iran will hold direct talks in Switzerland next week."

It is reported that Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar is scheduled to travel to Switzerland to prepare for these talks.

Bloomberg previously reported that Iran and the United States might sign an agreement on June 14 in Geneva. Axios news website revealed that U.S. Air Force aircraft are transporting equipment to Geneva, preparing for Vice President Vance’s potential visit to sign the agreement with Iran.

In the meantime, Fars News Agency, citing a source close to Iran’s negotiating team, stated that claims suggesting the U.S. and Iran might sign a deal ending their conflict in Geneva this Sunday are inaccurate, and Tehran has not yet made a final decision on signing any agreement.

The United States and Israel began attacking targets inside Iran on February 28, resulting in over 3,000 deaths. Washington and Tehran announced a ceasefire on April 8. Subsequent negotiations held in Islamabad ended without results. Although there have been no reports of renewed hostilities, the U.S. has started imposing a blockade on Iranian ports.

Meanwhile, negotiations between Iran and the U.S. are ongoing, recently focusing on reaching a framework memorandum of understanding. However, both sides have intermittently carried out individual strikes. The U.S. military justifies its attacks as part of maintaining the maritime blockade against Iran and targeting "self-defense objectives," while Tehran describes them as retaliatory actions.
