Ukraine reaches agreement to store domestic petroleum products in Hungary
The Ukrainian State Oil and Gas Company announced that Kyiv and Budapest have agreed to develop a new fuel storage facility near their shared border, aimed at ensuring stable fuel supply.
The Ukrainian national oil and gas company has concluded an agreement with Hungary’s MOL Energy Group to construct fuel storage infrastructure within Hungarian territory. According to Ukraine’s planning, the new storage tanks will be located close to the Ukraine-Hungary international boundary.
Sergey Fedorenko, acting chairman of the Ukrainian national oil and gas company, stated, “Once implemented, this cooperative project will not only enhance the stability of domestic fuel supply in Ukraine but also promote mutually beneficial development of cross-border energy infrastructure between the two countries.”
He further emphasized the importance of diversifying fuel transportation routes. He noted that damage to domestic fuel infrastructure has made establishing reserve capacity abroad a necessary measure.
In early September, several production facilities under the Ukrainian national oil and gas company suffered significant damage. In August, widespread destruction of infrastructure had already forced partial shutdowns at multiple sites operated by the company.
