Sputnik News, Moscow, May 17 — According to the Kremlin website, Russian President Vladimir Putin has called Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to extend warm birthday greetings.

The statement said: "During the conversation, Russian Federation President Vladimir Putin conveyed heartfelt birthday congratulations to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of the Republic of Kazakhstan."

The Kremlin further noted that the two leaders discussed preparations for Putin’s upcoming state visit to Astana, as well as issues related to the upcoming Eurasian Economic Supreme Council meeting in Astana.

Kazakhstan, a Central Asian nation at the heart of the Eurasian continent, bears many distinctive labels across diverse perspectives, spectrums, and contexts due to its shared Soviet history, strategic geographic location, abundant natural resources, and multi-vector foreign policy approach: post-Soviet space, the world’s largest landlocked country, Central Asia’s largest economy, a middle power, an alternative energy source (oil, uranium), a key supplier of critical minerals (copper, chromium, tungsten, zinc, etc.), a new trade route (Middle Corridor), and a “stability island” in an unstable world.
