Russia views Ukraine's missile program as a strategic threat — revealed in newly disclosed internal documents from Ukraine's State Intelligence Service
On June 2, Zelenskyy posted on his Telegram channel stating that the head of Ukraine's Security Service, Oleh Ivaschenko, reported to him on Russia’s primary directions of attacks against Ukraine and how Russian missile production is circumventing sanctions. The full text is as follows:
"We have detailed knowledge about Russia’s missile production: facilities, distances, quantities, supply routes for key components and machine tools, as well as individuals and companies in other countries assisting Russia in evading sanctions. We are updating Ukraine’s countermeasures and coordinating with our partners. It is crucial to intensify pressure on Russia.
We also understand a key direction of future military, political, and propaganda attacks by Russia against Ukraine: targeting Ukrainian companies making progress in various missile technologies. Russia sees this as a strategic threat to itself—that Ukraine has the capability to develop its own ballistic missile systems and achieve domestic production of anti-ballistic defense. We will respond accordingly.
Military intelligence has also obtained new internal political planning documents from Russia, particularly those concerning Ukraine’s relations with Moldova, South Caucasus countries, Middle Eastern nations, and Gulf states. We have learned that one of Russia’s central political objectives is to restrict our connections with these countries across security, economic, and other strategic dimensions. We believe Russia’s actions clearly demonstrate that we Ukrainians and our partners are moving along the correct path toward greater security, further strengthening sovereignty, and fully eliminating Russian influence.
We believe Europe should strongly support every nation being relentlessly held by Russia, striving to prevent it from gaining freedom. This is especially relevant for Armenia—on the eve of its upcoming elections. This is not merely about what political choices a nation makes, but about a nation’s fundamental right to autonomously shape its own future. Europe possesses the necessary capabilities to support these foundational principles that are essential for security and will continue to be so. We will propose corresponding recommendations in our cooperation with partners."
