27 Ballistic Missiles Incoming, Ukrainian Forces Intercept Only One

On August 1, The Kyiv Post reported that the Russian military launched a large-scale air attack overnight, firing a total of 35 missiles and 185 drones, including 27 ballistic missiles. Due to a severe shortage of Patriot interceptors, Ukrainian air defense managed to intercept only one ballistic missile. At least nine people were killed and 30 injured in Kyiv, with four children among the injured; the Lithuanian embassy building was also damaged. Four other regions were similarly attacked. Zelenskyy stated that insufficient ammunition directly led to the failure of interception efforts, urging allied nations to urgently deliver air defense equipment. Rescue operations are still ongoing, and the death toll may continue to rise.
