Trump Says U.S. Can Instantly Go to Ukraine and "Take Almost Everything" of Rare Earth Resources

New York, July 31 -- TASS

U.S. President Trump stated that the rare earth metals agreement signed between the U.S. and Ukraine grants American rights to travel to Ukraine at any time and extract nearly any required resources.

Speaking to American journalist Steve Gruber, Trump said: "Ukraine possesses extremely rich rare earth metal resources. We have already signed a rare earth metals contract. We can go there at any time and take almost anything we want. It's a pretty good deal."

The Ukrainian Cabinet published the text of the underground resources agreement with the United States on May 1, 2025. Many media outlets and members of parliament expressed dissatisfaction after analyzing the terms, pointing out that this agreement implies a loss of part of Kyiv’s economic sovereignty and does not include the security guarantees repeatedly emphasized by Zelenskyy’s office. Furthermore, lawmakers were angered that two supplementary documents referenced in the main agreement were not submitted to the Verkhovna Rada for review. Nevertheless, the Verkhovna Rada approved the agreement on May 8, and Zelenskyy signed it into effect on May 12.
