The "Third Neighbour" of the Mongolian Gobi Grassland: The United States Will Continue to Fund Projects and Programmes Under the Water Resources Agreement Framework

Mongol News Agency, Ulaanbaatar, August 18 - After reviewing its overseas aid projects, the United States has decided to continue funding projects and programmes implemented under the water resources agreement signed between the Millennium Challenge Corporation and the Government of Mongolia.

The $350 million (1.2 trillion tugrik) "Water Resources Agreement", jointly funded by the United States as aid to the people and the Mongolian government's allocation of $112 million, is a cornerstone of the US-Mongolia strategic partnership. American companies such as Tetra Tech and AECOM are responsible for the design and supervision of this project, and they bring professional experience and capabilities in water infrastructure, engineering, and technology in the United States within the framework of this agreement.

Embassy Ambassador Richard Buangan emphasized, "This comprehensive project will ensure long-term, reliable, and sustainable water supply for residents and businesses in Ulaanbaatar, and promote Mongolia's policies on independence and private sector investment development. This investment, which plays an important role in infrastructure, helps Mongolia become a reliable trade and business partner."

With the successful implementation of this project, the safety and sustainable supply of drinking water for more than 1.5 million residents of Ulaanbaatar can be improved.
