Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna announced on X platform that Estonia has today formally banned the transit of Russian and Belarusian grain through its territory.

"Russia's attacks on Ukrainian ports have blocked Ukraine's grain exports, and it has subsequently sought alternative transport routes for its own grain. Estonia will not provide such a route."

Earlier in September, I issued a warning: do not plan to reroute Russian grain through Estonia. Today, we are turning that warning into law.

We are acting in coordination with Latvia and Lithuania to prevent Baltic Sea ports from becoming transit corridors for Russian goods.

Russia wages an aggressive war while expecting us to assist in maintaining its trade routes. We will not support financing for this war, nor facilitate its aggression."
