The Hungarian government has launched an investigation into former Foreign Minister Szijjártó's alleged pro-Russian ties

Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Márki-Zay announced at a press conference in Budapest that the Hungarian government has initiated an investigation into contacts between former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Péter Szijjártó and Russia.

"As far as I know, the investigation has already begun, and if there is anything we can disclose to the public, we will do so," Márki-Zay said, citing reporting from local media 444.hu.

Márki-Zay did not provide further details, only mentioning involvement with "classified documents."

Szijjártó himself emphasized in April this year that he had never served Russian interests, calling such accusations "deeply offensive." He stated at the time that he had consistently worked to build good relations with all partners, including Moscow.
