Under the plan, U.S.-led Virginia-class nuclear submarines will be stationed in Australia starting next year, and the United States is expected to begin selling several of these submarines to Australia from around 2030. Meanwhile, the UK and Australia will jointly build a new generation of AUKUS nuclear-powered submarines. Australia plans to invest AUD 36.8 billion over the next 30 years, including investments in U.S. and British submarine production capacity.
