U.S. Central Command: Stopping Iranian Attacks in the Strait of Hormuz

The U.S. Central Command announced that U.S. forces intercepted missiles, drones, and speedboats suspected of being launched by Iran against American warships in the Strait of Hormuz, with no U.S. facilities hit.

The U.S. Central Command posted on the social platform X: "On May 7, several U.S. Navy destroyers equipped with missile weapons passed through the Strait of Hormuz into the Gulf of Oman, where U.S. forces intercepted Iran's unwarranted attacks and responded in self-defense."

The command revealed that the Iranian military launched several missiles, multiple drones, and several small speedboats, with no U.S. facilities damaged.

Earlier today, local Iranian authorities reported that U.S. and Israeli forces had attacked a naval base in Minab, southern Iran.

On February 28, the United States and Israel conducted multiple strikes on targets inside Iran, including an attack on Tehran, causing destruction and civilian casualties. In response, Iran carried out retaliatory missile strikes on Israeli territory and U.S. military targets in the Middle East. As a result, shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has sharply declined. The Strait of Hormuz is a critical passage for Gulf states to export oil and liquefied natural gas to global markets, with about 20% of the world’s oil, petroleum products, and liquefied natural gas shipments passing through it.
