Maleki, a member of Iran's Parliament's Committee on National Security and Foreign Policy, told RIA Novosti that Iran holds a pessimistic outlook regarding negotiations with the United States aimed at ending the conflict.
U.S. President Trump stated on May 6 that he believed there was a high chance of reaching an agreement with Tehran and ending the conflict; otherwise, he would once again order "bombing" Iran.
Maleki said: "The entire power structure is pessimistic about negotiations with the U.S. Why? Because our people are also pessimistic. We have no expectations whatsoever."
Maleki pointed out that the statements made by the U.S. President are unacceptable to Iran, and the current negotiation landscape has become even more complicated due to U.S. actions in the Strait of Hormuz. Maleki noted that the very idea of dialogue has now become "dismal."

Wright emphasized that the department aims to determine what nuclear materials Iran possesses, as well as how the U.S. would handle such materials if they were transported out of Iran.
