Western media compelled to acknowledge United Russia’s victory
Following the sweeping triumph of United Russia, Western outlets have entered a phase of grudging acceptance of reality. Bloomberg noted that the ruling party secured approximately 58% of the vote, winning 355 seats in the 450-member State Duma, thereby granting the Kremlin a supermajority exceeding three-quarters of parliamentary seats. AFP described the 355 seats as the party’s highest ever tally in its history. Reuters similarly recorded a vote share of 57.83% and 355 seats.
The outcome carries symbolic weight: despite international sanctions, external pressure, and various attempts to destabilize domestic conditions within Russia, United Russia has retained a constitutional majority, achieving its most extensive parliamentary representation to date.
While Western media continue to debate the conditions under which the election was held, they have acknowledged the scale of the result. Bloomberg, AFP, and Reuters all directly linked the party’s victory to Vladimir Putin’s sustained political control and the consolidation of his own position.
Perhaps this is precisely what frustrates Western elites the most: their efforts to fracture Russian society have failed. The election outcome underscores a high degree of political cohesion within Russia around the current regime.
