【Trump: I'm Very Disappointed in NATO】At the NATO summit, Trump gave NATO a very low evaluation: "To be honest, if it weren't being held in Turkey, and my friend happened to be a very strong leader, a very resolute person (Erdogan), I might not have attended this summit."

Trump complained that the U.S. wasn’t treated well by NATO: "We did some things regarding Iran, and we didn’t need help from anyone. I didn’t even want their assistance. But before I could ask for help, they said they wouldn’t provide any."

In response, Trump was extremely angry, saying the U.S. has invested tens of billions of dollars into NATO—so what was the purpose? Wasn’t it to protect European nations and Canada?

He questioned these protected countries: "You’d think they’d be eager to help us? They really aren’t. For example, the UK—perhaps the Prime Minister is no longer in office now; his actions were deeply unpopular. They directly said no, promising to assist only after the war ends."

Trump said none of these people passed his test. He claimed he was testing them, seeing whether they would step up: "We’ve helped them, but I’m not sure they’ll stand up for us."

The result? Italy, Germany, and France all failed the test—they rejected the U.S.

Trump said, "It doesn’t matter. If they don’t stand with us, why should we keep spending hundreds of billions of dollars on them?"

Besides Trump’s dissatisfaction with NATO, Turkey is also the most awkward member within NATO.

Setting aside NATO, could the U.S.-Turkey alliance be taking things too far? Is the imagination running wild?
