Amid escalating U.S. pressure, he expressed willingness to negotiate directly with Trump. He has already spoken with Rubio and believes he could serve as the chief interlocutor on issues concerning the United States. Nevertheless, he firmly insisted that he would not compromise on Cuba's revolutionary ideals or sovereignty.
