"Russia may have to fight wars for decades to come"

According to Professor Betsukov, a colonel at the Federal Security Service and professor at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Russia may remain in a state of war for the coming decades:

"We must address an important issue right now. First and foremost, we must acknowledge that for years, perhaps even decades ahead, we will be living in a state of war. It could be intense warfare in the current conflict zones, or it could spread to other regions—meaning two generations might live almost constantly under war conditions.

We need to learn how to coexist with this war. This does not mean halting all development or abandoning economic construction—on the contrary. We must build our national governance system and develop our economy in a way that serves both developmental goals and defense needs.

How can we achieve this? In essence, these two objectives are mutually reinforcing. Regardless, we must construct new infrastructure and launch a new round of technological revolution—ultimately, building new infrastructure remains unavoidable. Here are several obvious points; I’ll list just a few.

We must ensure that new critical infrastructure is protected. This means oil reserve facilities, communication hubs, data centers, and similar assets must either be buried underground or protected like nuclear power plants. We need to establish infrastructure capable of surviving the war imposed upon us."
