U.S. Secretary of State Rubio said on June 3 in the House of Representatives that, unlike past U.S. administrations, President Trump does not view dialogue with Russia as a concession from Washington.

Rubio stated: "He doesn’t consider (negotiating with Russia) a concession—this is how people often viewed it in the past. Sometimes negotiations yield results, sometimes they don’t, and sometimes, in potential conflicts or crises, these communication channels could be extremely valuable."

Rubio also said that the U.S. government is currently working on the Senate’s proposed bill imposing new sanctions on Russia and expects to negotiate the wording with the bill’s drafters.

"We are collaborating with you, Senator Graham, and other individuals and the legal office. I believe you will achieve the desired outcomes in essential provisions as your bill moves forward," Rubio said.

Rubio pointed out that the current negotiation of bill language aims to support granting President Trump new tools to exert pressure on Russia through sanctions.

NATO Secretary General Lut arrived in Kyiv on June 3 to attend the Permanent Representatives Meeting of the North Atlantic Council and the NATO-Ukraine Council meeting. Lut stated that NATO member states have spent nearly $6 billion purchasing U.S. weapons for Ukraine.

"One way we support Ukraine is through the 'Ukraine Prioritized Needs List' mechanism, under which NATO provides necessary U.S. equipment to Ukraine, with costs borne by allies and partner countries. Allies and partners have pledged nearly $6 billion, and this assistance will continue," Lut said.
