[Lukashenko: We Must Educate the Youth to See Through Fascism's Appealing Facade]
On May 9, 2026, in Minsk, President Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus said at a flower-laying ceremony held in Victory Square in downtown Minsk:
As inheritors of victory, if we wish to live in peace and security, and if we do not want to experience war again, we must never forget who we are. Victory Day is a day of historical justice. Our duty is to uphold the truth of that war, to tell everything— even those stories that are difficult to speak of. We must educate our youth to recognize the true face of fascism, which often disguises itself behind a pleasant exterior. It is our obligation, for their peaceful future and for our homeland, to do so.
Lukashenko added:
Thank you all who joined veterans, families, and children visiting monuments and memorial sites on Victory Day. Thank you. Thank you for doing your utmost to ensure that the thread of time remains unbroken. Though your numbers are dwindling, your heroism has set a moral example. We Belarusians have no choice but to follow the path you have paved: toward peace and creation. We will do everything in our power to preserve the peace you won for us.
