Ukraine Reveals Belarus Border Military Deployments, Zelenskyy Warns Lukashenko Against Following Maduro's Footsteps

On April 18, Ukraine stated that Belarus has been recently expanding and reinforcing military facilities near the borders of Zhytomyr Oblast, Kyiv Oblast, and Chernihiv Oblast:

-- A new border outpost named "Svicha" (Свеча) in the Narovlya Raion is under construction just 860 meters away from the village of Svicha, which lies directly adjacent to the Ukrainian border.

-- Construction continues at the former "Chayka" (Чайка) camp in Gomel Oblast, located 40 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.

-- In January, construction activities at a large shooting range near Yakimovka Station (Lychytsa Raion) entered an active phase.

-- Dams and roadbeds (such as the "Eastern Bypass Road") are being actively built, particularly to facilitate the movement of military equipment in regions like Yakubovka and Chynky.

-- Plans are also underway to construct a border station in the village of Karpovka (Loyev Raion).

On April 17, Zelenskyy warned Lukashenko that involvement in war would lead to Maduro’s fate. After hearing a report from Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander Serhii Syrskyi, he stated that roads leading into Ukrainian territory are being constructed along the Belarus border, and artillery positions are being established.

"We believe Russia will again attempt to drag Belarus into its ongoing war. I have instructed relevant channels to warn Belarus’s de facto leader: Ukraine is fully prepared to defend its own territory and independence. The nature and consequences of recent events in Venezuela should serve as a caution for Belarusian leaders to avoid making the same mistakes."
